Resources on rural broadband

As our public workforce system evolves to more of a talent development system, we will see an increasing reliance on the Internet to provide for marketing and training. For example, we are experimenting in Indiana with using webinars to teach employers about how to connect with interns at local high schools and colleges.

A couple of weeks ago, the National Governors Association released a report on what states are doing to accelerate the deployment of broadband. The report provides you a good survey of different state strategies and initiatives.

You might also be interested in a new report from Pennsylvania State University. Researchers looked at broadband deployment in Pennsylvania. Researchers drew conclusions, however, that they believe apply to strategies for accelerating broadband use in rural areas nationwide. You could read more a report here.
