Starting and growing a business in a rural region can be challenging when entrepreneurs cannot readily access the tools they need to succeed. To meet this growing concern, Sussex County Community College in Newton, New Jersey set up a Center for Entrepreneurial Studies as a result of a USDA/Rural Development Grant.

Prospective entrepreneurs and existing business concerns can now use a variety of tools at the Center to serve the needs of their new businesses, find new opportunities or redefine their objectives.  The Center is supported by technology, counseling and other assets in order to stimulate economic growth.

Here's sampling of resources available to local entrepreneurs:

  • Research any industry and investigate business issues through the Center's extensive database collection, periodicals and other print resources;
  • Develop a business plan, marketing plan or advertising plan;
  • Create, design & print business and promotional materials;
  • Use computer resources to create web sites, create digital images for company literature or set-up & use QuickBook.
