The Delaware Valley Innovation Network or DVIN, is working to expand the economic capacity of the region's life sciences sector. In addition to having the top-ten multinational pharmaceutical companies, DVIN hosts world-class academic research institutions; emerging biotechnology, medical device and diagnostic companies; as well as an abundance of government and industry organizations providing business, entrepreneurial and commercialization support to the life sciences industry.

As a 2nd Generation WIRED region, DVIN will develop a strategy to attract, leverage and sustain funding resources that strengthen and expand the regional life sciences industry through growing and enhancing its human capital infrastructure.

DVIN has stated three goals to transform the regional economy:

1. Conduct a Gap Analysis to ensure that the demands of the life sciences industry are being supported by the supply from educational and training institutions.
   
   
2. Develop three Regional Centers of Excellence to enhance the research, technology transfer, entrepreneurial development and training activities in life sciences.
   
   
3. Deepen professional economic development, workforce development and educators' understanding of the life sciences industry through regional collaboration and knowledge activities.
