                                                      Gay M. Gilbert

 

Gay joined the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration in November 2000 and currently serves as the Administrator of the Office of Workforce Investment. In that role, she provides federal oversight and leadership for America's workforce investment system, including employment and training programs under the Workforce Investment Act and direction and support for the nation's locally driven one-stop delivery system.  A key focus for her office is promoting increased collaboration among the workforce system, business and industry, education partners at all levels to develop innovative workforce solutions to ensure the nation's workers have the critical skills they need to succeed and businesses have access to the talent they need to grow and prosper - both of which are key to American competitiveness in the global economy.


Prior to joining the U.S Department of Labor, Gay was a senior official for the State of Ohio overseeing workforce programs for over ten years.
 

Gay also served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Columbus, Ohio in the area of public employment law for two years and eight years with the West Virginia Department of Human Services.


She has the following degrees:


Bachelor of Arts, Michigan State University

Master of Social Work, West Virginia University

Juris Doctor, Ohio State University
