Nancy Hewat, (Ph.D., Education Policy, University at Albany) is the Project Director for the Evaluation of WIRED Generations 2 and 3. She is a senior project manager and director of the Education, Workforce, and Economic Development group at Public Policy Associates, Inc. Her research interests include program evaluation, organizational development and change, and the politics of decision-making. Dr. Hewat recently completed a multisite evaluation of ETA's Skills Shortages Demonstration programs which included 50 sites across the U.S. Her background includes numerous studies of industry sector-focused initiatives including a current study funded by the Mott Foundation. Her experience also includes a multi-year evaluation of Lifelong Learning Accounts, a new approach to funding incumbent worker training developed by the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning's (CAEL ).
Prior to joining PPA, Dr. Hewat was a community education consultant working with members of the business community to promote adult education programs. A former classroom teacher, her previous research experience includes a state-level study of school-to-competitive employment programs for disabled young adults, case studies of urban school reform initiatives, and an analysis of a national campaign to build strategic alliances with community-based organizations. She has written and presented her research findings at professional conferences of the American Educational Research Association and the New England Educational Research Organization.
